About the race

The Malmö Marathon is organized by IF Malmö Löp in collaboration with Malmö Marathon AB.

Marathon: 42,195 m

Half marathon: 21,097 m

The half marathon starts at 9:00-9:30 a.m. and the marathon at 10:00 a.m.

The track will largely be the same as in 2025, but changes may occur. The track will be presented in spring 2026.

According to Strava, the marathon has an elevation gain of 28 meters and the half marathon has an elevation gain of 19 meters. It is difficult to say how accurate these figures are, but it will be two very flat courses.

Yes. Both distances are sanctioned by the Swedish Athletics Federation. The tracks have also been measured and certified by the Swedish Athletics Federation and World Athletics.

Timing is done using an electronic chip attached to your race number. Your time starts when you cross the start line and stops when you cross the finish line (net time). Split times will also be recorded along the course.

The marathon will be a mass start without specific starting groups. However, we will mark signs based on expected finish times so that runners can line up in approximate order at the starting line.

Depending on the number of participants, we will have a number of starting groups for the half marathon based on your expected finishing times. More information about this will be provided at a later date.

Yes. As we will be affecting traffic in Malmö on the day of the race, we have limited time to use Malmö's streets. For the marathon, the maximum time is set at 6 hours, and runners must have passed 21 km after 3 hours and 30 km after 4 hours and 15 minutes. The half marathon distance is slightly more generous and will be adapted to the marathon's start times. Please note that this may change as the race approaches.

How wonderful that you are considering becoming an official!

Please fill in our interest formand we will contact you when the race is approaching.

Yes. There will be service stations along the course with water and sports drinks. The sports drink we will be serving is Umara USport Lemon: U Sport, a sports drink with an optimal 1:0.8 carbohydrate mix + electrolytes and BCAA. | Umara

We have a maximum of 6,000 places, and once we have reached that number, the race will be sold out and we will not be selling any more places.

We are aware that there are runners who are currently selling their places on Facebook events and other online platforms. If you choose to buy a second-hand place, we recommend that you make sure that the actual person you are in contact with is on the official start list (not someone who claims to know them). You can find the official start list here: https://raceid.com/sv/races/14450/startlist

Otherwise, we recommend using the platform startplatser.se, where people usually post their tickets.

Yes, standard hydration packs or vests are permitted during the race.

Yes, headphones/earphones are allowed, but be mindful of your surroundings and stay to the right, pass on the left, and let faster runners pass you.

Restrooms will be available at the start and finish areas, as well as at a few locations along the course.

Please note that only one toilet at each location along the track is accessible. It is wheelchair accessible.

Yes, there will be a staffed bag drop at the event area.

Yes, all runners will receive a medal after crossing the finish line.

Since Malmö is a very walkable city and easy to get around, we encourage everyone who can to walk, cycle, or take public transportation to and from the race. If you must drive, we will not be able to offer parking, but we recommend that you look for street parking in the surrounding areas. The closest parking lot to the event area (Ribersborg parking lot) will be closed during the race.

Yes, it is possible to participate in both the marathon and half marathon in a wheelchair. However, please note that we do not currently have a course that is specifically adapted for wheelchair running.

Participation is therefore at your own risk, but we will do our best to facilitate where we can. The course includes several sidewalks and some sections with packed gravel and cobblestones, which may affect accessibility.

There will be access to Malmö City's disabled toilets along the course, as well as two disabled toilets in the finish area, but no special facilities beyond this.

Please note that competition wheelchairs are not permitted, and wheelchair participants cannot compete in the competition class.

We are a very small organization with limited resources, but we do our best to help. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or special needs that we can hopefully help you with ahead of the race!

We have put together a team of 40 pacers who will do their best to help you achieve your goals! We will have pacers for both the marathon and half marathon, with times ranging from 3 hours to 6 hours for the full marathon, and 1:30 to 2:45 for the half marathon.

Information about the distribution of race numbers will be provided closer to the race.

There will be no live broadcast with GPS, but your fans will be able to follow your stages as you pass the timing mats along the course. Between timing mats, the timing system will display an average time based on your latest pace to reach your next checkpoint.

We will post GPX files of the courses in the weeks leading up to the race.
